FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FATHER AND SON PLAY… FATHER AND SON

It all began with Eeyore.   Frederick teen and Tuscarora High School senior Sean Collins first appeared on stage as A.A. Milne’s dole donkey, “Eeyore” in the Thurmont Thespians production of “House At Pooh Corner” way back in the summer of 2001 when he was 9 years old.   He comes to the stage having both a mother, Jeanine Collins, and father, Bill Collins, who have been active in Frederick County local community theatre for many years.   Jeanine appeared in the Thurmont Thespians world premiere musical “Andrew Michael” by Doug Benson in 2002 playing opposite her son Sean, who held the title role of “Andrew”, as a real-life mother and son duo.  And Sean’s father, Bill Collins has appeared with Sean in last fall’s Thurmont Thespians production of “Tradin’ Paint”.   But real-life father, Bill and real-life son, Sean have never worked together on stage as “Father and Son”. That is up until now.

Come next month they will both be on stage together in the upcoming Thurmont Thespians spring musical production of Robert Fulghum’s “All I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten” by Ernst Zulia and David Caldwell.  And finally, they will play opposite each other as Father and Son in one of the sketches called coincidentally, “Fathers and Sons”.   According to director Beth Royer Watson, family theatre means families doing theater and has been the core mission of the  community theatre in Thurmont since its formation in 1998.

When Sean graduates this June from Tuscarora, he will be attending Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg and may soon be involved in one of their student productions.   In the meantime, he is enjoying this one last opportunity to share the stage with his dad as they sing, dance and perform together in “Fathers and Sons”.

“All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten” opens for two weekends at the Thurmont American Legion Auditorium, Fridays and Saturdays, April 4-5 and 11-12 at 8PM with Sunday matinees April 6 and 13 at 2PM.  Reservations for early seating can be made by calling 301-271-7613.   Sean says be sure and mention “Eeyore” sent you when you call!
