Editorial Policy
How Catoctin Curtain sources its articles, labels synthetic illustrations, keeps corrections checkable, and frames safety notes for community theatre.
How Our Articles Are Built
Catoctin Curtain publishes original editorial writing for readers interested in community theatre participation around the Catoctin region. Every article starts from a real public question: how a rehearsal is organised, what a stage manager tracks, how a newcomer might prepare for an audition. We build each piece from publicly available reference material, general descriptions of theatre roles, and careful reasoning about rehearsal practice.
When we summarise a published description, we paraphrase it and say what it covers rather than copying source text. We do not present a common pattern as a requirement, and we do not invent productions, calendars, staff, or organisations. Where responsibilities vary with the scale of a production, we say so.
Illustrations And Scope
They are created to support a topic and are not documentary photographs of any named company, cast, venue, or event. Labels stay truthful so readers always know what they are looking at. We avoid unverified addresses, event schedules, prices, and invented access rights, and we do not give medical advice or prescriptive procedures for hazardous stage work such as rigging or effects. Where a topic touches on safety, we frame it as constructive advice to consult qualified staff.
Correction Notes
If a passage seems to conflict with its source, check it directly. Note the article, the section heading, the sentence, and the source you compared it against, then record what differs. A short dated correction note kept by you makes the discrepancy easy to verify and revisit. When we are uncertain, we say so in the article rather than smoothing it over.
